Eligibility Criteria

Sponsor – You must be sponsored by your child who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or an eligible New Zealand citizen.
Age Requirement – Applicants must generally be older than 65 years to qualify for certain parent visa subclasses or meet the Balance of Family Test.
Balance of Family Test – At least half of your children must reside in Australia as citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens. Alternatively, at least one child must live in Australia, and no more than half of your children should live outside of Australia.
Health and Character Requirements – You must undergo medical exams and provide a police clearance certificate from every country where you’ve lived for a certain period.
Visa Subclass Choice – Depending on your circumstances, you may apply for a subclass 103 (Parent visa) for permanent residency or a subclass 804 (Aged Parent visa) if you meet age and other criteria.
Financial Capability – You and your sponsor must demonstrate that you can support yourselves without relying on public funds in Australia.
