Parent visa 103

Parent visa 103 lets a parent of a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen move to Australia on a permanent basis.

This is a permanent visa and allows you to:

  1. Move to or stay in Australia as a permanent resident
  2. Sponsor eligible family members to come to Australia
  3. Apply for Australian citizenship (once residence requirements have been meet)

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Not have a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa 870
  2. Must be sponsored by an eligible sponsor
  3. Meet the balance-of-family test
  4. Have assurance of support
  5. Meet health and character requirements
  6. Have no debt to the Australian government
  7. Not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused
  8. Have adequate health insurance for overseas visitors if applying as a retiree

Things to note:

  1. There can be long waiting times of up to 30 years before this visa is approved.
  2. If you are in Australia and your current temporary visa is about to expire, you will not be eligible for a bridging visa to stay in Australia. This is because you must be outside Australia when a decision is made on your application.
