The Student visa allows international students to undertake full-time education and training in Australia. This visa enables a student to stay in Australia for the duration of the relevant course. The student must enrol, or in some cases have a letter of offer, with an Australian education provider before lodging a visa application.
Eligibility Criteria
Enrollment in a Registered Course – You must be enrolled in a full-time course at an approved Australian educational institution.
Confirmation of Enrollment (CoE) – You need to provide a CoE for the course you intend to study.
English Language Proficiency – You must meet the required English language proficiency (usually IELTS, PTE, or TOEFL scores) based on the course requirements.
Financial Capacity – You need to demonstrate that you can financially support yourself while studying in Australia. This includes showing sufficient funds for tuition, living expenses, and travel costs.
Health and Character Requirements – You must meet the required health checks and provide police clearance from your home country or any country where you’ve lived for a significant time.
Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) Requirement – You must prove that you intend to stay in Australia temporarily for the purpose of studying and not as a means of permanent migration.
Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) – You must have valid health insurance to cover medical expenses while studying in Australia.
