BREAKING NEWS: DETAILED COMPARISON SHOWS MAJOR CUTS IN MANY VISA CATEGORIES COMPARED TO 2019-2020 PLANNED MIGRATION LEVELS

A detailed comparison between last year's planned and actual migration numbers and the new planning levels announced by the government this week show major cuts in many visa categories that will impact a wide cross-section of people hoping to migrate to Australia.

While the numbers feature a one-time increase for partner visa allocations, major cuts have been introduced including a 61% cut in skilled independent visas, 55% cuts for regional and state/territory nominated visas, a 26% cut for employer sponsored visas, and a 38% cut in parent visas - a category that already has a backlog of many years.
