Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa 491
The Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa 491 is for skilled people nominated by a state or territory government to live and work in regional Australia for 5 years. Visa holders will be eligible to apply for a Permanent Residence visa after three years.

Eligibility Criteria
- Must be nominated by a State or Territory government agency or sponsored by an eligible relative
- Nominated occupation must appear on either Medium and Long Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Short Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL)
- Must receive an invitation to apply for a visa and apply online through the Department website within 60 days of invitation
- Nominate an occupation that appears on the relevant occupations list and obtain a positive skills assessment for that occupation
- Skills assessment must not have been for Temporary Graduate visa 485
- Sponsor must be usually resident in a designated regional area
- Must have genuine intention to live, work and study in a designated regional area
- Have at least competent English
- Meet the points test pass mark (which is set at 65 currently) and the points score is not less than the score stated in the invitation to apply for a visa
